While getting the royal treatment at a hair salon is always a great option, sometimes we like save some time and money and install our wigs at home. Here are the products you'll always want to have if you want to achieve a flawless lace install:
Firm hold gel or edge control
One of the top complaints from both wig wearers and non wig wearers is that having a melted wig will result in thinning or losing your edges; here's how to avoid that. Always use a gel or edge control (whichever works best for your hair) to slick back all of your edges completely and blow dry on low to ensure that no glue gets on your hair at all. We recommend Got2B styling gel which can be find at your local beauty supply store or on Amazon.

Wig or Stocking Cap
The best way to make your lace look like "scalp" is to lay the foundation for it aka then bald cap method. The best cap to use is a very light brown or nude color because you can always go darker from there.
#AdLace Glue, Grip Gel, and/or Holding Spray
These three are all listed as one because the one that you use is completely up to you. It all depends on your wig type, how long you want the install to last, and how much time you have to install. A good lace glue is always the first option because it's the one that will last the longest. It is recommended for people that want to sleep in their wigs for days and weeks at a time. Grip gel is a much quicker option if you want to try the glue less approach and don't have much time to apply multiple layers of glue. Lastly, a holding spray such as Ebin, or Got2B can be used in conjunction with the lace glue or grip gel for a firmer, longer lasting hold or it could be used alone for a glue less option that usually only lasts a day or two.
Foundation
To achieve a flawless bald cap, it is great to use a foundation that closely matches your skin tone after applying glue or spray and letting it dry completely. This will ensure that the stocking cap is undetectable and makes your install pop.
Lace Tint
Using a lace tint spray also aides in making your install flawless as it makes the actual lace on the wig match your skin tone. When you hear the term "what lace" most of the time either this or makeup was used on the lace; sometimes both.
Lace Melt Band
After your bald cap is set and you apply your lace adhesive(s), it's time to apply your wig. A good lace melt band or elastic band in general will be your best friend at this step. You will want tie the front your wig down while you style it so that the adhesives can set and dry and have a firm hold. This will also come in handy if you want to add baby hairs.
Wax Stick
No one wants their wigs ruined by fizziness and fly-aways and a wax stick is the remedy to this. Use this at the top if your wig to slick down any frizz that tries to get in your way.
Hot Comb
In addition to the wax stick, the way to get a flat, sleek wig is to use a very good hot comb. Comb the top of your wig with the hot comb right after applying the wax stick.
